Scientific facts:

ü Why do we blink our eyes?
The object of blinking our eyelids is to keep the front of the eyeball clean. Blinking is done by means of muscles in the eyelids and cleansing by tears. The tears are secreted in a little gland and carried along to the eye and when our eyelids open and close the tears are pouted over the front of the eye and they wash any particles of dust or any other harmful substance.
Thus, we blink our eyes only to clean the eyeball.

ü How long can we survive without oxygen?
Humans can live only for a few minutes without oxygen. The blood supply to the brain stops if there is no oxygen. We will lose consciousness is 8-10 seconds and our heart beats only for 72 seconds after losing consciousness.
So a human being can be alive only for 72 seconds without oxygen.

ü If you sneeze too hard, you can fracture a rib. If you try to suppress a sneeze, you can rupture a blood vessel in your head or neck and die!

ü You are more likely to be struck by lightning than to be eaten by a shark! You are more likely to be infected by a flesh - eating bacteria than you are to be struck by lightning!

ü If you urinate while swimming in a South American river, you may encounter the Candiru. Drawn to warmth, this tiny fish is known to follow a stream of urine to its source, swim inside the body, and flare its barbed fins. It will remain firmly embedded in the flesh until surgically removed!
